What are your top 10 most-played songs currently?
Hmmn, that's a good question. Right now I'm listening to radioioAmbient on net radio, so the selection is pretty much up to them. I also listen to DroneZone on SomaFM, but that is for later, when I start getting ready to go sleep.
Which band or artist which is no longer performing or alive would you have loved to have seen?
Submitted by Rev Stan.
Once upon a time, in the late 80's and early 90's there was an Aussie band by the name of The Church. They were not churchy, religious, monastic, pious, or fundie, so perhaps the name was rather problematic and may account for their relative lack of success (or at least the success I felt they deserved). They were, however, cool, spacey, cerebral, moody, and, well, deep. I really enjoyed their music and would have loved to have seen them perform in person, but sadly I never had the chance. Actually, I think they probably do perform at small venues and the occasional studio albums, so maybe they are not a good answer to this question, but I still would have loved to have seen them perform. Is anyone else out there a fan of The Church?
What did you drink that made you do your last famous Hollywood "spit-take"?
Submitted by LittleGreenBook.
I didn't really understand the question, so I followed the link. Still don't really get it. A "spit-take" is a gag in movies (of TV and apparently in comics as well), that's the definition. I've never done one, I've never witnessed anyone else do one and I would be a bit surprised to see this happen in real life. I assume here that this sort of thing is caused by the spontaneous mixture of surprise and timing, seeing something that surprises or shocks you at the moment you are drinking. Maybe I just don't startle easily.
In your ultimate dream house, what does your favorite room look like?
Good question. For me, the room would have to be the library. I have a small (but growing) collection of classics and they will naturally be stored in the library. This room will be Victorian in style and lined with bookcases and comfy chairs, with a large window looking out on the mountains. This is a room designed for quiet contemplation and flights of fancy as one delves deeply into the literary history of the world.
Have you noticed a climate change in the area where you live over the past few years?
I have definitely noticed a climate change recently. Spring came about a month before it usually does here, temperatures soared to where they usually are in late April and early May. Plans and flowers started blooming early. I don't know if this can be attributed to global warming or simply a natural weather cycle, but the seasonal changes, or changes in the seasonal pattern, was very noticeable.
When you go out to eat, how do you pick where to go?
Submitted by Kristine.
I generally choose to eat somewhere new or that I haven't eaten at in the last few days. Convenience plays a role in the decision. Type of food also plays a role, if I'm the mood for something specific. I most often eat lunch out, somewhere close to campus or on campus, dinner I usually make for myself (except maybe on weekends), and by make I mean I open a box or can and fire up the microwave. Yes, I'm a bachelor.
What's the most famous movie you've never seen?
Submitted by Mike.
The most famous movie I've never seen is Schindler's List. Yes, I know, it's a great movie, but it's also a very dramatic and sad movie, and I'm almost never in a mood to see a really sad movie. I'm sure I'll watch it at some point, but so far I've avoided it.
How do you pass the time during a flight? What do you bring in your carry-on?
I really enjoy flying and as a military brat I traveled a lot when I was young, flying at a very young age. It always seemed like an adventure, I never worried about it or developed a fear of flying or crashing. Ok, so on to the question, I usually read or listen to music, I actually find flying relaxing and so I don't do it to distract myself from the experience of flying, just to pass the time. And I prefer and window seat for the sky high view.
Sure, most sequels stink, but what movie really needs a sequel?
We need a Terminator 4. How did John Conner lead the resistance after the near total destruction of humanity?
Okay, we hate to ask, but... over the roll or under the roll?
Over. I mean, it just works better that way, you have only to push down and in to get clean break instead of pulling out and away and not having any real control over where the tissue will break. As a practical matter of design and functionality, I'd have to say that over is the best.
